Sugar Rush @ Section 16, PJ

Big fan of cakes? Head down to Sugar Rush to satisfy your sweet tooth (or teeth rather!). First of all, Google Maps needs to update this location coz it is definitely inaccurate as Bravo and I found out through a slight tour of the massive bungalow section of Section 16.

We were warmly greeted by the famous Cake Runway, which is a glorious display of the delectable cakes.

Tempting as it was to jump straight into the sugar bandwagon, we started with a savoury dish - the Steak and Vegetable Pie. Fairly generous with the steak pieces, but definitely not their signature dish.

Now, down to serious business - the cakes!!!

Words cannot describe the Chocolate Ganache with Salted Buttercream. Rich, dense and moist, this chocolatey slice of heaven was simply ecstasy.

The Lemon Poppyseed striked a good balance between sour and sweet with a generous serving of poppy seeds.

I could stop here but why would I? Yep, just couldn't resist temptation. The other cakes were just calling out to us to return so we did...two days later! The lovely staff gave us a warm welcome back so that was sweet.

We were in for a shock though as there were only four options to choose from as they were awaiting delivery of the other cakes. We settled for the Kit-Kat Strawberry while we waited for the cakes to arrive.

This vanilla butter cake topped with strawberry pie filling, wrapped in kit-kat bars and filled with chocolate chip buttercream was simple yet delicious. As one of the staff put it, this is often overlooked as one of the forgotten children that's left behind. I'd still go for the Chocolate Ganache over this anytime though. =P

The long awaited Coffee Oreo with Peanut Butter frosting finally arrived after almost an hour. Was it worth the wait? Definitely fresh and yummy, but lacks the oomph somehow. That Chocolate Ganache really trumped them all.

Verdict: Definitely one of the better cake cafes out there. I can foresee many more visits to come in future.

Fun fact from Bravo this time around - one could potentially test positive in a drug test if they consume too much poppy seeds, which are used in the production of heroin.

An extra piece of science from Bravo on our second trip back (which almost caused hair loss since his memory failed him): Saturation - the degree to which something has been dissolved or absorbed to the fullest extent possible. This came up as he was scooping far too many teaspoons of sugar into his tea and I remembered vaguely learning this way back when.
